Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the team enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.

What’s Next?

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Explorers and Planners groups.

Audiences can expect learning which characters will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
